Defense of the Gospel, Lily Higashi

My husband and I were both raised in Buddhist families. In my husband's senior year in college he met some Christians that had the reality and the testimony of a godly human walk. (Up till then we both were not impressed with Christians because the testimony of their moral standards as a whole were below most of the Buddhists we knew.) My husband received the Lord Jesus Christ as His Savior through these Christians in the college cafeteria, much to my surprise.

As he began meeting with them in a consistent way, I could see a definite change in his being. The change was so real and positive that I realized only God could have done this. Up until this point I could never believe that Jesus Christ was God. But my husband's godly change caused me to open to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior also. My life also changed. From a self-righteous person, I realized I really was a sinner by nature (Romans 3:23), and needed the Lord's death on the cross to cleanse me from all that I was. I also realized that in resurrection He is now the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45b) to get inside of me to be my godly-life, that I could never be in myself.

These Christians who led my husband and me to the Lord and who had such a testimony of love, oneness and righteousness were getting the most help in their understanding of the Bible from the teachings and ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.

For 31 years now my husband and I have been daily enjoying and partaking of God's divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) which has brought full meaning to our human life.

We can't thank the Lord enough for leading us to a people and a ministry that opens the Bible to us and causes us to experience the reality of the Lord Jesus as the Spirit in our daily life for His eternal purpose.
